BIG twisting tower topped by $28 million penthouse

Miami's verdant and bohemian enclave Coconut Grove will soon have its first new high-rise residential buildings for a decade. Grove at Grand Bay comprises a pair of twisting towers in lush grounds. It will offer spacious indoor-outdoor apartments ranging from US$2.95 million to $28 million.

Designed by Raymond Jungles, it is said that the planting on the 3-ac (1.2-ha) site will see a "return to untamed jungle-like vegetation," with blankets of plant-life across the parking and amenity spaces. There are more than 460 trees and 15,400 plantings planned.
The buildings themselves twist upward in a manner likened to the motion of dancing, and will sport Miami's common architectural features of brise-soleil-style balconies and floor-to-ceiling windows.
Inside the buildings, low-density floor-plans will make for spacious residences. There are a 98 planned in total across the two towers, variously providing views of Biscayne Bay and the Miami skyline. They will range in size from 2,500-11,000 sq ft (232-1,022 sq m) and have 12-ft (3.7-m) high ceilings and doors and 12-ft (3.7-m) deep terraces.

The development's highlight is a 15,000-sq ft (1,394-sq m) penthouse that covers the entire top floor of the South Tower and recently went on the market for for $28 million. The eventual resident(s) will have the run of five bedrooms, eight bathrooms, two staff rooms, a gym, a spa, media room and a private four-car garage. A private 2,500-sq ft (232-sq m) outdoor terrace and private 2,000-sq ft (186-sq m) rooftop pool deck and garden terrace, meanwhile, will provide spaces to relax and entertain.
Grove at Grand Bay will have seven residents' pools in total, including a 25-meter lap pool, a lounging pool with a jacuzzi on its main terrace and rooftop pools on each tower. All building residents will also be able to make use of a spa and fitness center, a library, an art gallery, a residents' lounge and club room, a private dining room and concierge, butler and private chef services.
Ground was broken on the development in 2013 and it is expected to be completed in the middle of this year.
