Venture to the Swiss Alps to Better Your Sleep


Last year, Six Senses Spa—at the Alpina Gstaad, 56-room hotel in the Swiss Alps—launched a sleep program so popular the spa decided to bring it back for another year.
Two yoga practices are combined, geared specifically toward bettering one’s sleep: nidra (Hindi for “sleep”), an ancient form of guided meditation; and hatha (“willful” or “forceful”), a strengthening sequence of physical exercises that promote alignment.

A therapist discusses the needs and issues of each participant before leading everyone through the practices, which include relaxing stretches and mindful pranayama (“breath control”) for reaching a state of calmness and well-being, and ultimately a more restful night’s sleep.
The program requires a minimum of three days, but can be taken for a maximum of two weeks to most-effectively reform sleeping patterns. The program starts at about $3,355 per person for double occupancy and about $4,910 for single occupancy. Available until March 20 of this year.
