GMC has announced the 2016 Sierra All Terrain X as an extension of the All Terrain model. With premium extras intended to enhance off-track capability, the special edition pickup also features an aggressive use of monochrome coloring on the exterior, giving it a more sinister appearance.
Pickup trucks are the most-accessorized segment in automotive and anyone who visits SEMA or any of a number of local and regional car shows can attest to that. If you can name an accessory possibility, a piece of specialty equipment meant to do a specific job, or a tuning or style upgrade idea for a vehicle, chances are there's someone, somewhere making that for a pickup truck.

Manufacturers have been quick to jump on this trend as a way to add income both from the factory and for their dealers. The GMC Sierra 1500 All Terrain is the factory-made offroad version of the half-ton truck. The X model adds icing in the form of some common equipment enthusiasts will add upon leaving the showroom, as well as the aggressive look many truck owners want.
The 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 All Terrain has several things added to the standard Sierra, including an Eaton locking rear differential for the four-wheel drive system, the Z71 Off-Road suspension package, Rancho monotube shocks, and an inclinometer in the cluster. The X package adds a few more goodies to that All Terrain bag.
Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac MT tires begin the changes, along with exclusive 18x8.5-inch black aluminum wheels to mount them on. Also included are blacked sport side steps, a bed-mounted sport bar (a popular dealer add-on), a performance exhaust system that boosts engine output, and body coloring packages to make the entire truck monochrome to the chosen body color. Available colors include black, white, blue, red, and a metallic gray and iridium.
The 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 All Terrain X will be offered for a limited time, starting this US spring, and only in the 4WD crew cab, short box models in SLT trim. Pricing is yet to be announced.
