Breitling’s First Smart Watch Is Simply Brilliant

The new Breitling Exospace B55 connected chronograph takes the brand’s acclaimed aviation acumen to new heights. The Swiss manufacture’s first smart watch synchs traditional flight-focused complications with the latest digital-interface technology paired to your phone.
Tucked within the black titanium case—with a rotating bezel—is Breitling’s Caliber B55 movement (certified by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres) that displays both in analog and digital format. Perfect for pilots, functionality includes an electronic tachymeter to calculate speed and distance, block-time determination (duration from taxi and takeoff to gate), and the ability to record up to 50 split times. In addition, the comprehensive chronograph will record departure and arrival schedules, as well as airport codes.

Data can then be downloaded to a smartphone (using Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity) for storage and sharing. The phone can also be used to adjust watch functions—including a perpetual calendar, dual time-zone function, alarms, and display features—as well as transmit notifications of e-mails, calls, messages, and appointments, directly to the timepiece. The dual-time feature uses the watch’s hands and the digital screen to display the two different time zones, which can instantly be swapped by the push of a button. Information is presented on two LCD screens with backlighting activated either from the crown or by tilting the watch over 35 degrees for hands-free visibility.
