Christofle Has Revamped Traditional Flatware for the Modern Host

For many, the days of regal banquets and traditional place settings are a thing of the past. Today’s hosts prefer spontaneity over formality, with spur-of-the-moment meals and relaxed gatherings of friends replacing conventional dinner parties. The Parisian silversmith Christofle, which has been creating finely crafted silverware and home accessories for 179 years, responded to this more casual trend by releasing a new flatware set called Mood. The 24-piece, silver-plated set ($1,000) is housed in a sleek stainless-steel, egg-like capsule with the Christofle coat of arms and a solid walnut interior. Easily portable and ideal for impromptu dinners, outdoor picnics, and everyday use, the capsule is an aesthetically beautiful and practical invention. In between meals, store it on top of the kitchen counter, dining table, or console for an artful avant-garde touch. The Mood set comprises six settings, each with a fork, spoon, knife, and teaspoon.
