Casa Stella gains a guest room with the push of a button

For those who live in a small house or apartment, a dedicated guest room can take up far too much space to be practical. That said, putting guests on the couch isn't ideal either. PKMN Architectures gave its clients the best of both worlds with the recently-completed Casa Stella project, which boasts a moveable wall that creates a guest room at the push of a button.

The pair regularly host visiting family members and were considering building a new guest room. Naturally, this would have reduced available living space, so PKMN Architectures instead chose to install a wall that automatically moves outwards to create an additional small room.
The system is based on an industrial unit, with the wall hanging down from rails built into a false ceiling. Once duly activated, the process takes 30 seconds to complete and the 400 sq ft (37 sq m) living space is separated into a smaller 160 sq ft (14 sq m) guest room and a reduced but still workable 240 sq ft (22 sq m) living space. Access to the former is gained by the apartment's terrace.
The new room features a pull-down bed for guests, and it also serves as a home office or kids playroom. The wall itself contains storage space, a pull-down desk, and a pull-down dining room table.
